About

In a world of broken relationships and shattered ideals, Jesus requires strong hands to sow seeds of reconciliation and justice. Our goal is to train and empower others to a life of reconciliation that flows into peacemaking and justice ministries.

The 12 week course will cover these and other related subjects:

Our aim is to train individuals or teams to work in many different areas of society that need God’s work of reconciliation and restoration. If You want to be involved in peace building in an area of conflict; or if You want to be an advocate for the voiceless; or if You want to develop a restorative justice team in an inner-city; or to work in the political arena; this school will help you in developing your plans and your heart to serve God in these areas.

During this three month school, we will be training with international practitioners, researching current issues of conflict or injustice issues, and taking time to seek God’s heart for reconciliation and justice around the world. Then, you have the option of a 2-3 month internship program

    • Character Development of the Peacemaker or Advocate

Internship: 13th April to 19th June 2012 Interns will work with the SORJ staff in a variety of projects. One of the projects undertaken by last year’s SORJ was to start a sports club in a neighborhood park in Belfast NI. In working alongside YWAM Belfast, the team learned more about how Northern Ireland is continuing to grow out of the various issues of the “Troubles”. The 2008 Internship worked in Lebanon learning about their work in healing from the civil war and how they are dealing with the issues of justice.

The internship is designed for students to put into practice what has been learned in the SORJ during the lecture phase. You will be working with the team who is leading the SORJ. The work week will be composed of times of serving in the community and various projects locally, team times, continuing education to enhance the learning and written projects for evaluation.

Last year one of our groups spent a month working in Belfast, N. Ireland in cooperation with YWAM Belfast. The group set up a football club in the park as their project. In the midst of the football, they discussed lots of issues these young people face growing up in a poor area that is still coming out of the past violence. We also visited many different ministries from a restorative justice center to peace building centers to see what is being done to heal Belfast from the “Troubles”. Early in the SORJ, we will be discussing the Internship possibilities.

  1. Hello SORJ it is my great desire to come back to my country to reach and transform the people via peace building and justice programmes. I consider it a great advantage to my self and perhaps other students. I hope to be in SORJ by january 2012. Humphrey O. Nsirim
